TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - More than 5,000 young athletes will play soccer in more than 11 Tucson parks in the 26th annual Fort Lowell shootout.

The 11U Tanque Verde soccer club is one of 322 teams playing in the tournament.

U-12 arsenal head coach Mack Romero has been apart of the shootout for over 15 years, he is still very excited. Romero said, "Of all the tournaments I've been to in the country, this is the one the kids love the best."

All the teams want to win but it is the festivities and experience of it all that create lasting memories, especially the opening ceremony parade.

Romero said, "They wont remember anything about the score or who they play, but they'll remember the olympics and the parade."

The games will continue on through the weekend.
