Former Wildcat All-American Scooby Wright practices after joining the Cardinals

Scooby Wright was doing yoga when he received numerous missed calls that the Cardinals wanted to sign him off the Browns practice squad.

"I thought I was getting punked," Wright said.

It was no joke. And, while Wright was flexible about joining any team after being cut by winless Cleveland, he really wanted to play for Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians. The two had spoken last spring about Wright joining the Cardinals as undrafted free agent. That is, until Cleveland selected him in the seventh round. Wright was active for just two games.

"This is the NFL," said Wright "Your job could get taken at any time. I experience that with Cleveland. I kind of have that mentality where you have to come in every day and take care of your business, and take care of it."

Wright practiced with the Cardinals on Wednesday. Head Coach Bruce Arians said he could see time on special teams when the Cardinals host the Saints on Sunday.

Wright was an All-American middle linebacker for the Wildcats during their Pac-12 South Title winning seasons back in 2014. As a junior in 2015, he missed most of the season due to injuries.
