The Arizona Cardinals have reached naming rights with State Farm.
The team said on Tuesday morning it has reached an agreement on an 18-year naming rights commitment with the insurance company, turning University of Phoenix Stadium into State Farm Stadium.
The Cardinals unveiled glimpses of what the new stadium signage will look like during a press conference at the stadium Tuesday morning.
“We were intent on finding a relationship that was an ideal fit with our organization and this community in terms of values, priorities and culture,” Cardinals President Michael Bidwill said in a statement. "While this is a comprehensive marketing agreement, there will be a major focus on community programs that will have a positive impact across our state. State Farm is one of the most respected and recognizable brands in the world and Phoenix is fortunate to be one of its three hub markets.”
The process of replacing the University of Phoenix Stadium signage with the new State Farm signage throughout the venue will take place in the coming weeks. The team said much of that work will be in place by the Cardinals' season opener vs. the Washington Redskins in Glendale on Sunday.
State Farm is one of the major tenants of the Marina Heights development near Tempe Town Lake. In its statement Tuesday, the Cardinals said University of Phoenix "will remain heavily connected to the Cardinals as the team’s Official Education Partner."
The Cardinals' home venue has been known as University of Phoenix Stadium since its first season in Glendale in 2006. In April 2017, the online school asked to get out of the current deal with the team. The school will still remain as the team's Official Education Partner.
Along with being home to the Cardinals, the stadium is also home to the Fiesta Bowl, which has been played there every year since 2007. It has also been home to two Super Bowls, a College Football Playoff National Championship game and a Final Four.
Last week, dates for every Fiesta Bowl game through 2025 were announced. Super Bowl LVII in 2023 and the 2024 Final Four will take place at State Farm Stadium, as well.
