TUCSON, Arizona — "We started working on this almost exactly a year ago," said Shannon Lowe, manager of the new Rock Solid Climbing and Fitness in Marana.
The workout facility is a metaphor for the ongoing pandemic.
'You have to figure out how you are going to work your way up the wall, and how to position your body. These routes are called problems. The climber’s job is to try to figure out how to solve them."
Lowe’s biggest problem was working through delays. The PPP helped.
However, after he grabbed a hold of one issue, another would emerge, just like in rock climbing.
"We’re constantly changing the routes. Every time you walk in, there are new routes. There are new rules, new challenges, and you have to position your body in different ways in each of these."
Physical traits that make a good rock climber include fitness, flexibility, and balance. The colors on the routes represent the difficulty level.
"To finally to see people here using the facility as it was meant to be used and enjoying it is the dream that I’ve been looking forward to for months."
