Nearly a dozen companies, hundreds of jobs, and one way for you to access it all: a Virtual Job Fair!

"Now, more than ever, the unemployment number is so high and we're seeing people that need employment immediately," said Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona Courtney Nelson.

The job search does look a lot different during a pandemic, but Nelson explained that does not mean hiring is not happening.

"We want to be able to connect those people that have just recently lost their jobs or even went into this COVID situation without employment, and we know there's positions available," Nelson said. "So we can connect them directly."

Nelson said Goodwill knew they needed to take action to find some way to bring people together to find a new career path.

"This is our opportunity for us to still get that face-to-face time with the job-seekers, as well as the employers," Nelson said. "And hopefully get them hired immediately on the spot."

Goodwill is hosting their first Virtual Job Fair through Zoom on Wednesday from 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. There will be 10 businesses participating in the event and they are looking to fill roughly 300 positions.

"We want the employers to have the opportunity to present about their companies, talk about the positions, and really also highlight the skills that are needed for those positions," Nelson said.

Zoom job-seekers can listen through their options and then let Goodwill staff know which positions they want to go after.

"We will be connecting with every single one of those job seekers," Nelson said. "They can let us know in the chat function or we'll be following up with them to say, 'Is there an employer that you want to connect with?'"

If you do not have a laptop, internet access, or a calm spot to go through this virtual job fair - their Career Centers are an essential business and are open for you to go there.

"Our Career Navigators are really ready and get there a little early and they can even help you to practice that interview skills... make sure your resume is up to date," Nelson said.
