PEORIA, AZ - Peoria firefighters are honoring two girls who sprung into action last month to help their grandfather as he was having a diabetic emergency.

Adyson Ordway, 11-years-old at the time, and her 7-year-old sister Rayne were with their grandfather as he was driving them home from school. When he started swerving the car they knew something was wrong.

“I realized when he started stuttering and kept asking multiple questions and 'why' a lot when we didn’t say anything,” Adyson said.

The 11-year-old urged her grandfather to pull over. He stopped in a left-hand turn lane off Vistancia Boulevard and lost consciousness as Adyson called 911.

“I told the dispatcher my grandpa’s a diabetic and he doesn’t know where or who we were," she said.
Paramedics responded and began treatment for hypoglycemia as he was regained consciousness. Weeks later, family members told ABC15 he is healthy and in good spirits.

Firefighters presented the girls with certificates Saturday to commemorate their quick actions.
