QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. (AP) — The town of Queen Creek is looking for its first police chief. Phoenix radio station KTAR reports the town voted to form its own police force on March 18.
Currently, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is Queen Creek's sole law enforcement provider.
Town Manager John Kross says the town is looking for a well-rounded executive with experience in delivering on modern policing strategies.
The chief will help identify staff and establish operations for the police department.
The department's staff will include 59 full-time employees and the police chief will report to the town manager.
It's estimated the transition will take about 18 months.
