CHANDLER, Ariz. — Police in Chandler say a man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of his wife.
They say 30-year-old Jordan Taylor has been booked into jail on suspicion of one count of second-degree murder.
Police say Taylor told investigators that he was trying to clean a rifle at the couple's apartment Tuesday morning when it went off and his 27-year-old wife was shot once in the chest.
They say she was transported to a hospital and died during surgery.
Police initially called the incident a negligent discharge of a weapon.
But court documents state that Taylor was pointing the rifle at his wife when it went off and he had at least two other accidental discharge incidents with the same weapon in the past week.
