One mother is speaking out after her baby was killed in a car crash.

Clarissa Torres-Shelby says her baby, Gabriel, was killed in a car crash on April 10. His dad was driving with him when a teen on Mission Rd. t-boned them.

The father and son were both thrown from the vehicle and rushed to the hospital.

"And I get a call that my husband and my son were in an accident and as me and my son were driving we saw an ambulance. I knew my son was in there and he was. They opened up the ambulance and they were giving my son CPR. They worked on him they said for 20 minutes and then they called it."

Torres-Shelby says her husband is still recovering from his injuries.

Now, she is asking drivers to be responsible on the road and parents should make sure their children are secure in their car seats.

"Take your car seat to a fire station to make sure it's properly installed, fitted to your child, make sure there is no cushion inside where he can slip out, make sure it's crash tested with everything."

In honor of Gabriel there will be a toy drive taking place at his memorial on what would have been his first birthday, August 25.

The toys will be donated to Aviva Children's Services.
