The Tucson Police Department released new details on a suspicious death investigation that began in December of 2016.

According to the Tucson Police Department, detectives have since learned that 7-month-old Victor Self had several skull fractures and a brain bleed when he was found unresponsive at an apartment complex in the 3200 block of East Bellevue Street.

Crews immediately transported Self to Banner University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

His mother, 24-year-old Kimberly Self, was in the home with several other adults when first responders arrived.

TPD says Victor was underweight and malnourished at the time of his death.

Self's other child, who was 3-years-old at the time, has now been diagnosed with several medical issues including language delays, social delays and abuse while in her care.

After reviewing medical records on both children and conducting follow up interviews with the mother, detectives arrested and booked her into the Pima County Jail on Thursday on two felony charges of child abuse.

Detectives are continuing this investigation. If anyone has any information about this incident, you're asked to call 88-CRIME.
