Tucson police are investigating the suspicious death of a 7-month-old child.

The child has been identified as Victor Self.

Police say on December 3 just after 5 p.m. members of the Tucson Fire Department responded to an apartment complex in the 3200 block of East Bellevue Street for a report of an unresponsive child inside the residence.

Crews immediately transported Self to Banner University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Officers and detectives from the Tucson Police Department's Child Physical Abuse Unit then responded to investigate.

Police say the initial investigation showed that Self had significant head injuries that appeared to be non-accidental.

Police say family and friends were in the home when the child was found unresponsive.

Detectives are still working to determine what exactly happened and are asking anyone with information to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME, you can remain anonymous.
