TUCSON (KGUN9-TV)- Friday’s storms washed in high water, car trouble, and some strange sights.
The storms dropped a lot of rain in a little time, and trouble poured in all over town.
The Stone Avenue underpass lived up to it's reputation as a car killing trap for unwary drivers.
Midtown was especially sloshy, Nadya Novak sent us video of kids playing in dangerous rushing water around Tucson Boulevard.
“I've lived here about ten years and I've never seen the water this high before. I've seen high, really high because I'm a stay at home mom, so about two Septembers ago it was very high but not this high."
Conditions like that left a lot of drivers waiting for tow trucks.
On Grant Road, Bobo's restaurant had trouble with high water.
At one home one Seneca a low brick wall trapped the water and left homeowners working to bail thousands of gallons, one pail at a time. The good news is the water stayed in the yard.
So much water flowed into the Bella Vista Apartments on Seneca the pool overflowed and the pool deck coated with mud.
And water flowed into some of the ground floor apartments. James Featchures had his possessions stacked up to keep them dry.
"They need better drainage system. It's flooded. Pretty much just our living room. We don't have carpets so we were able to mop it up but some of the other families probably got hit pretty hard."
And sometimes monsoon just flushes out some weird scenes, like this one: a large floating trash can, just missing a passing truck, nearly turning the corner, and floating on.
