TUCSON, Ariz. — Three University of Arizona researchers are receiving what they call "The Oscar of Science."

They took the first ever photo of a black hole.

KGUN9 first told you about the black hole back in April, and how the team is being recognized.

The project is known as the 'Event Horizon Telescope.'

It's been named the 2020 breakthrough prize in fundamental physics.

A number of unversity students worked with the scientists.

Eight telescopes were used to create the image, two managed by the UA.
