School officials evacuated several hundred Vail district students following flooding Tuesday.
According to district spokeswoman Darcy Mentone, the evacuations at Pantano and Andrada Polytechnic High Schools happened in the noon hour. Mentone said Pima County Sheriff's deputies were concerned the schools, at 13010 S. Houghton Road and 12960 S. Houghton Road, would become landlocked after a sinkhole developed south of the schools and the area north of the schools was flooded.
Students were bused to Cienega High School, 12775 E. Mary Ann Cleveland Way, where their parents could pick them up.
