Tucson police say a missing 86-year-old man has been found safe in Louisiana.

Albert Encinas Caviglia is in the process of being reunited with family.

According to his granddaughter, Caviglia was trying to head home from the hospital but ended up heading toward Louisiana because of his dementia.

He stopped at a Circle K in Louisiana when he realized he was lost. The lady helped him call his daughter which was the only number he remembered.

Two other family members went to meet him at a hospital in Louisiana.

The family is "glad he is safe and soon to be home!"

On Saturday, police began searching for Caviglia who had last been seen at 11 p.m. Saturday night near Banner University Medical Center.
