TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A man has been sentenced to five years in prison for starting fires at a post office and the federal courthouse in Tucson.
Federal prosecutors say 55-year-old Cleophus Emanuel Cooksey was sentenced Thursday.
The Tucson man pleaded guilty to starting two fires in the lobby of the U.S. Post Office Cherrybell Station eight days apart in July 2015.
Employees and customers were present during the fires, but authorities say nobody was injured.
Prosecutors say Cooksey also ignited a fire in August 2015 in the bushes outside the Evo A. DeConcini Federal Courthouse.
There were no injuries in that fire either.
Prosecutors say Cooksey admitted to starting the fires as a way to seek revenge against the federal government and that he planned to continue setting them.
