TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The Tucson Police Department's Air Support Unit will return to service Friday night, according to Tucson Police Department.

The unit was grounded after complaints were made by members of the air unit concerning operations and policies.

Sgt. Pete Dugan said the unit was grounded last month but has been cleared to return.

The TPD website says the Air Support Unit responds to an average of 12,000 calls per year, and aided in more than 700 arrests last year.
