TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A bank robbery and two different suspicious packages brought the Pima Regional Bomb Squad to Foothills Mall Thursday.

About 2:30 a man walked into BBVA bank, brandished a bag and said he would explode it if he didn't get money.

The man took some money, left the bag and walked toward the Buy Buy Baby store where deputies spotted him.

Deputy Cody Gress says, “The suspect then held up a second bag claiming it also had explosive devices in it, pointing it towards the deputies.  They were able to de-escalate the situation.  He ended up throwing the bag behind him towards the store and then getting on the ground."

The Pima County Regional Bomb Squad determined neither package was a threat.

The suspect is 66 year old David Allen Markillie.

He's facing an armed robbery charge, six aggravated assault charges and maybe Federal charges too.
