Pima County Sheriff's deputies say a suspicious man approached a 9-year-old Oct. 25.

Deputies responded to the 1200 block of West San Lucas Drive at 6 p.m. to a report of an attempted kidnapping. A 9-year-old boy was taking out the recycling bin when a man stopped in front of the boy's house and said "Hey, you're coming with me for the night" and started to get out of his car.

The boy ran inside and told his mother.

According to Pima County Sheriff's Department Detective Robin Crehan, these investigations aren't taken lightly, but can provide to be very difficult due to little known information. Normally, detectives will try and determine whether or not there is a pattern of similar events or incidents in an area. But in this case, she says there doesn't seem to be one.

However, she explained any and all information is helpful, and is hoping the neighbors and community members will be able to help out.

"If you think you've seen something, even though you think it's inconsequential, not important, or maybe it might be the wrong person, call it in anyway," she said. "Let us follow up on it and discover whether or not it's related to our investigation."

Deputies say the man is white or Hispanic and has medium-length hair and ear piercings.

Those with information should call 911 or 88-CRIME.
