The area received as much as six inches of hail.
Superintendent Ken VanWinkle made the announcement on the district website.
In the post, VanWinkle writes "In order to make sure our schools are safe for students and on the advice of all of those directly involved, Safford Schools will be closed from Tuesday, Oct. 11th through Friday, Oct. 21st. Our plan is to reopen schools on Monday, Oct. 24th. Buses will run on a regular schedule that day."
