The Arizona Department of Transportation is warning motorists about dangers of driving in wet roads soaked by Hurricane Newton remnants.

Here are the tips the state offers:

  • Inspect your wipers before you drive.
  • Turn on your headlights.
  • Drive slowly and keep a safe distance between you and the car ahead of you.
  • Avoid sudden hard braking, and favor slowing down by easing off the gas.
  • Avoid pooling water.
  • Give trucks and buses extra room.
  • If you find yourself hydroplaning, ease off the gas until you regain traction.
