TUCSON, Ariz. — The deadline for the Real ID is coming.
To make sure that Tucsonans have the proper federal ID by the October deadline, the University of Arizona Passports Office will hold a special "Passport Day" application event on Feb. 22.

Beginning on Oct. 1, domestic travelers will be required to present a Real ID to board a flight. State driver's license without a gold star will no longer be accepted. However, a passport will fulfill the federal requirements for identification needed after the deadline.

Passport applications should bring:
- Proof of citizenship (certified or original version)
- Government-issued photo ID
- Recent passport style photo (2 inches by 2 inches), or applicants can use the photo service on site for $10
- Two separate payments (cash is not accepted)
The event will go from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the University of Arizona Global Center, 615 North Park Avenue.
