Mysterious odor on eastside is not a gas leak

Southwest Gas crews spent Thursday morning investigating what was thought to be a gas leak on the eastside.

According to company spokeswoman Amy Washburn, the company responded to complaints of a strong odor in the 8000 block of East 24th Street.

Dispatchers say it was a passing odor and they never found anything.  It was not natural gas.

Crews say it smelled liked petroleum and could have possibly been from a roofing truck or a paving truck.
