TUCSON, Ariz. — Southwest Airlines is one step closer to begin flights to Hawaii from California.
The Federal Aviation Administration approved the carrier to fly to the islands from the west coast.
The airline's bid took longer than expected, with the latest delay due to the partial government shutdown.
According to the airline's website, specific routes are not yet available for purchase.
