FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - Alcohol is part of the culture of rafting the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon.

But not all river trips have the same rules.

A recent investigation into sexual harassment on trips led by National Park Service employees resulted in disallowing anyone on the trips, even dignitaries, from drinking alcohol.

The ban doesn't apply to commercial companies hired by the general public to go down the 280-mile stretch of the river. Nor does it apply to private trips that are won through a lottery system.

The Park Service doesn't allow commercial guides to drink alcohol while on the river.

The highly coveted private trips have more relaxed rules.

Much of the drinking is done at night while rafters sit around a campfire, playing music and sharing stories.
