UPDATE: The Pima County Sheriff's Department confirmed Thursday morning that the road to Mount Lemmon will be reopened at noon. PCSD says the reopening is only for vehicles with all wheel drive, 4x4, and chains.

The road to Mount Lemmon is closed at the base due to winter weather conditions, Pima County has announced.
Officials say General Hitchcock Highway is closed due to snow and ice on the roadway.
Access is currently limited to residents and employees only.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area and check conditions before traveling, as winter weather can change quickly in higher elevations.
