TUCSON, Ariz. - Tucson police responded to an armed man who barricaded himself in a southeast side home Wednesday.

Police say officers entered the home and found the man unconscious. He was hospitalized with unknown injuries.

Sgt. Pete Dugan said the call came in at 6:41 a.m. from the 1800 block of South Van Buren Avenue.

A woman called to say an armed man was threatening to attack her. She escaped and is safe.

The suspect stayed inside and refused to come out. Domestic violence detectives and SWAT went to the scene.

Police evacuated homes in the area, and shut down Van Buren from 28th to 29th Streets before reopening them.
