TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — A man was shot to death on South 12th Avenue early Monday morning.
At around 3:15 a.m. officers responded to Mission Manor Park, 6100 S. 12th Avenue for a report of a shooting, where they found a man with gunshot trauma, Tucson Police say.
Shortly after Tucson Fire medics arrived and rendered aid to the victim, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The the victim was identified as 21-year-old Ocean Frederick Washington. Next of kin has been notified.
Through further investigation, detectives learned that there was a large gathering that was present, police say.
Witnesses told police that a vehicle drove through the parking lot and "recklessly accelerated around the gathering." Before leaving the parking lot, someone inside the vehicle fired several rounds, ultimately striking Washington.
Later, detectives were able to gather a description of the vehicle and suspect. Police say that information was give to officers who found the suspect vehicle at a home near W. Ajo Way and S. Valley Road, where a search warrant was served and 19-year-old Deandre Isaiah Antone was taken into custody.
Police say additional evidence was collected and Antone was identified as the suspect in the shooting.
Antone was charged with first-degree murder and drive-by shooting. He is currently being held in the Pima County Jail.
Through further investigation, a second suspect was identified in the deadly shooting of Washington, according to the department.
On Oct. 22, officers arrested 14-year-old Patrick Martinez in a home near S. Midvale Park Road and W. Headley Place, where additional evidence was collected.
Martinez was charged with first-degree murder and drive-by shooting.
He is being held in the Pima County Juvenile Detention Center.
