Police look for con artist targeting people in midtown parking lots

TUCSON, Ariz. - Tucson police are looking for a con artist who has been targeting people of advanced age in midtown parking lots.

Police say the man has approached people claiming they hit his vehicle, or offering to repair their vehicles.

The man has been spotted near Grant and Alvernon and Speedway and Country Club.

Police say the man is between 45 and 60 years old and is 5-8 and 230 pounds. He has gray hair, is balding and wears glasses.

Tucson Police offered these tips if you find yourself in a situation where you're confronted by a con artist.

Tip 1. Don't give your money to anyone you don't know.

Tip 2. Don't allow anyone in your vehicle if you don't know them.

Tip 3. Call 911 if you think any situation is suspicious.

The Pima Council on Aging offered additional tips:

- Slow down, scammers often try to make you feel rushed.

- Find a store manager to help you handle the situation.

- Never settle anything with cash and refuse any pressure to comply with anyone you think is suspicious.
