TUCSON, Ariz. — Tucson police investigated a deadly single-vehicle crash Sunday morning near Golf Links and Swan roads.
Police say 29-year-old Davis Ochoa-Borquez died at the scene.
Police say a 2000 Nissan Sentra was sheared in half. The front of the vehicle went through a chain-link fence near a Border Patrol station, and the back half was about 20 feet away in the roadway that heads southbound toward Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.
Police say "The vehicle collided with a utility pole with enough force to rip the vehicle in half."
Ochoa-Borquez was ejected from the vehicle.
Border Patrol detained an adult man who was attempting to flee the scene. The driver of the vehicle did flee the scene.
Detectives determined the man trying to flee the scene was the passenger.
Police have identified the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash as 32-year-old Guadalupe M. Barrios.
Police obtained an arrest warrant for Barrios on October 7.
Barrios has been taken into custody and is being held at the Pima County Jail.
Police say Barrios is facing charges on leaving the sceen of an accident causing death.
