Pinal County Sheriff's deputies were looking for a suspect near Florence who escaped after barricading himself inside a home for several hours Tuesday.
According to deputies, 49-year-old John Bowman barricaded himself inside a home in the 13000 block of N. Desert Drive in Florence. He had been threatening his girlfriend and said he would not be taken alive by law enforcement. Bowman, a convicted sex offender who was wanted for violating sex offender registry laws, violated a restraining order.
Deputies cleared the home at 9:30 a.m. but did not find Bowman. He was spotted running into a park in the Copper Basin community, about 5 miles north of the home. Deputies say he stole a woman's pickup truck from in front of a home and was last seen driving northbound on Gantzel Road.
