A pedestrian who was critically injured after being hit by a truck at the intersection of Columbus and Fort Lowell Friday morning was pronounced dead after being transported to a nearby hospital.

Detectives say 56-year-old Jezzelyn Lankisch was crossing E. Fort Lowell Rd. when she was struck by a 2005 silver Dodge Ram.

According to TPD, the driver of the truck was putting down the sun visor due to glare while turning from Columbus Blvd. onto Fort Lowell Rd. and did not see the woman crossing the street.

Neither speed nor drug or alcohol impairment appeared to be a factor in the collision, according to a TPD media release.

The driver of the Dodge Ram was not injured in the accident.

Tucson police closed the intersection of Columbus and Fort Lowell Friday morning after the incident.
