TUCSON, Ariz. — A Pima County corrections officer accidentally shot himself and another man Saturday.
According to the Pima County Sheriff's Department, officers responded to the 16000 block of South Delgado Road to investigate a shooting.
Deputies found two men injured by accidental gunfire. One man fired a bullet through his hand and into the chest of the other man. Both were hospitalized with serious injuries.
The man who fired the gun was 30-year-old corrections officer Raul Burruel, who has worked for the department for seven years. He was placed on paid administrative leave during the investigation.
Burruel was off-duty when he fired the gun, which was not issued by the department. No arrests have been made.
