Pima Animal Care Center is suspending voluntary pet surrenders for two weeks starting Thursday due to shelter-related dog illnesses, including distemper and strep.
PACC will also temporarily suspend on-site adoptions as staffers maneuver to make room for healthy pets.
The shelter will continue to handle rabies, law enforcement, cruelty and neglect cases.
