OVPD make arrest in hit-and-run

Oro Valley police are looking for a driver they say hit a pedestrian and drove off.

Police say the vehicle as a black "cube" type with a shattered windshield and a damaged front grill.

The crash happened at 6:13 a.m. Monday near Calle Concordia and Oracle. A 65-year-old man was walking along Calle El Milagro when he was hit.

OVPD says the victim, a 65-year-old man was struck while walking along the 9300 block of N Calle En Milagro.

The suspect's vehicle fled northbound into the area of the Oro Valley Country Club. 

The 65-year-old man was transported to Banner UMC and is in critical condition having sustained a serious physical injury.

The suspect's vehicle was described as black and a "cube" style with significant damage to the windshield and front grill.

Officers canvassed the area and spoke with multiple residents.

At 10:22 a.m. officers received information that the suspect's vehicle was seen at a residence near the 100 block of West Oro Valley Drive. 

Patrol units and the OVPD Traffic Investigations Unit responded to the residence and the vehicle was confirmed as being a 2010 Nissan Cube that had damage consistent with the incident. 

Traffic investigators have determined the registered owner, 37-year-old John J. Pedicone, is believed to be the person who was driving at the time of the incident.

Pedicone was evaluated for possible impairment because of intoxicants.

Pedicone was arrested and booked for failing to stop at an accident involving serious physical injury or death and Aggravated Assault; causing serious physical injury.
