New TUSD superintendent Gabriel Trujillo says he will work to retain teachers, curtail bullying and improve the level of education throughout the district.

In an exclusive interview with Good Morning Tucson anchors  Pat Parris and Alexa Liacko, the newly appointed official acknowledged the problems the district has had in retaining teachers and students and said he will work with the district to improve the district's schools.

One of his goals is to staff every classroom with highly qualified teachers. He also mentioned improving the district's arts programs.

Trujillo has served as the interim superintendent since March. He was appointed by the board to serve permanently earlier this month. He replaces the troubled administration of his predecessor, H.T. Sanchez, who resigned.
