A motorist died early in a midtown traffic accident on Interstate 10.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, westbound I-10 between Congress and Speedway was shut down for several hours Tuesday morning before reopening.
At 10:38 p.m., a motorist waved down a DPS trooper to tell him about a body in the road on westbound I-10, milepost 258.
The trooper found the dead body --which appeared to have been hit by multiple vehicles -- blocking the two outside lines of traffic.
Three vehicles remained at the scene to cooperate with the investigation. Troopers are working to identify the victim and notify next of kin. The investigation is ongoing.
