A man was convicted of animal cruelty after authorities say he shot a dog.

According to the Pima County Attorney's Office, Marvin Christy shot a dog belonging to a neighbor.

Christy was convicted last week of cruelty to animals, as well as four counts of being a prohibited possessor of a deadly weapon. He did not show up for his trial and was tried in absentia. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Those with information should call 88-CRIME.
