TUCSON, Ariz. — A major traffic switch is coming to Interstate 10 near Ruthrauff Road Friday, Nov. 20.

Lane closures will lead up to the shift starting Tuesday.

The traffic shift will start overnight Friday, Nov. 20. Starting Saturday, westbound I-10 traffic will be adjacent to eastbound traffic.

The westbound exit at Sunset Road will move to southeast of Ruthrauff Road while a temporary ramp is built north of Ruthrauff.

On Tuesday, westbound I-10 in the area will be down to one lane between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. The westbound frontage road will also be down to one lane.

ADOT spokesman Garin Groff said "ADOT shifted traffic on eastbound i-10, to the newly constructed eastbound I-10 lanes here at Ruthraff road. The next part is this coming Friday night and into Saturday morning, westbound Interstate 10 is going to shift to the newly constructed lanes of I-10."

The $129 million project is scheduled to be completed next year.
