A man who admitted to attacking a victim with a machete in June 2014 was sentenced to serve 7.5 years in prison.
Tony Abrego pleaded guilty to two aggravated assault charges and was sentenced Tuesday.
Police say Abrego attacked Erik Schumann, who was with Abrego's ex-girlfriend at the time. Abrego stabbed him more than 30 times.
Abrego was also given credit for 525 days served for violating his probation, but that time does not apply to his aggravated assault convictions.
