The Tucson Department of Transportation had lane dividers installed earlier this month.

The dividers are part of an effort to make the roads safer for cyclists.

A group known as Bicycle Inter-community Art and Salvage also known as BICAS has weighed in on how much impact they are providing.

BICAS Board Mamber Rachel Wedig says "Somebody falls asleep at the wheel and their car veers or they're checking their phone or they get distracted, those physical barriers will let them know um way sooner than they would've noticed previously."

The newest installation of the lane dividers are located along 22nd Street and I-10 along the westside of the bridge.

TDOT would like to remind everyone to share the road and drive with caution.
