PHOENIX (AP) - The husband of a woman killed during a 2017 eastern Arizona burglary objects to a proposed plea agreement for the defendant, a boy now 16 years -old.

Ernest Collins Jr. said the agreement pending in court would allow the youth, who was 14 years old when Terrilynne Collins was killed, to plead guilty to manslaughter and aggravated assault.

Collins told The Associated Press he agreed during a settlement conference to a version of the proposed agreement under which the boy would have pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

But Collins said "there's no justice" in reducing a first-degree murder charge to manslaughter.

The boy's lawyer declined to comment and Apache County Attorney Michael Whiting didn't immediately return a call for comment.

The AP does not generally identify juveniles in criminal cases.
