TUCSON, Ariz. - The Humane Society of Southern Arizona is hosting their first ever "Living in Harmony with Wildlife" class on Thursday, Feb 7.

The class is aimed at teaching people who to co-exist with wild animals if they ever come across them.

Some time ago, the Arizona Game and Fish Department took to social media to showcase a video of a mountain lion making its way through a portion of Sabino Canyon.

After that video was posted, Stephanie Gary with the Humane Society said they got calls and emails about what to do if they ever came across an animal like that.

"We do get a lot of contact through emails and phone calls to our different departments here at the humane society wondering what to do and how to stay safe. What else they can learn as far as continued education goes," Gary said.

"This class is to really teach the public about the interactions they may have while they're out and about in their everyday lives. Possibly their yards going out on walks with their pets, really just knowing proper ways to interact or actually avoid interacting with the animals, keeping them and their pets safe as well," Gary said.

Gary added animals like mountain lions aren't the only ones people need to be wary around. She said Javelinas and even some types of birds can be dangerous.
