Gov. Doug Ducey has ordered flags statewide to be lowered to half-staff in honor of slain Show Low police officer Darrin Reed.
Flags will be lowered until sunset Thursday. Lee died Tuesday from injuries in a shooting while on the job.
"Our state is in mourning today after the unexpected passing of Show Low Police Officer Darrin Reed," Ducey said in a statement. "This tragedy is nothing less than a deeply humbling reminder of the sacrifices that police officers make each and every day to keep our communities safe. I urge all Arizonans to join me in keeping Officer Reed, his family, and all of our state’s law enforcement officers in our prayers. In honor of Officer Reed, I have ordered that all flags at state buildings be lowered to half-staff immediately."
Also, local law enforcement agencies honored Reed in a procession that started in Tucson and traveled to Show Low.
