Gene Wilder has died, the family of the legendary actor tells the Associated Press.
Wilder, 83, was best known for his starring roles in "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," "Young Frankenstein" and "Blazing Saddles," was considered a comedic genius.
Borne Jerome Silberman in Milwaukee, he took the stage name Gene Wilder at age 26.
