A gas leak that shut down a road on the University of Arizona campus Thursday morning has been cleared.

University of Arizona Police said crews were working to repair an old gas line when they accidentally sparked the gas leak.

Second Street between Mountain and Olive was closed to vehicles and pedestrian traffic, but has now reopened.

The James E. Rogers building was also closed.

The U of A sent out an alert to students around 8 a.m. and reopened the area before 9 a.m.
