Arizona Game and Fish officials killed a bear Sunday that had been stalking hikers in Madera Canyon.
According to department rep Mark Hart, officials located and shot the bear at about 4:30 p.m. at Josephine Saddle, which is two miles south of where the bear had initially been sighted, at OId Baldy.
The bear had been stalking two women who were hiking in the area for nearly three hours. At times, the bear got within 20 yards of the hikers.
The bear was a female black bear that weighed 175 pounds. The bear had been bothering hikers for several weeks.
