TUCSON, Ariz. — More than 1,500 students packed into AVA Amphitheater Thursday to learn about fire prevention.

It's part of an annual program put on by several local first responder organizations and Casino Del Sol.

This year's theme is "Not All Heroes wear capes - Plan and Practice your escape".

The program is designed to make sure families have an escape plan in case a fire starts inside a home.

Organizers say this year's event was especially meaningful because it was dedicated to two people - Captain Roger Tamietti the Tucson Fire Captain who passed away recently and Banner UMC nurse Susan Kinkade who passed away on Oct. 7 after a battle with leukemia.
