Firefighters put out a northside apartment fire Wednesday.

According to Tucson Fire Capt. Barrett Baker, there were no injuries in the blaze, which took place in the 2000 block of North Tucson Blvd.

The fire damaged the rear patio area of an apartment unit and firefighters contained the fire before it spread to the interior.

Multiple calls were made to 911 reporting a chair on fire on the back patio. A female in her 70's was home with 2 grandchildren and 2 others when they noticed the fire according to Baker.

They all safely evacuated before Tucson Fire was on scene.

Nine units and 23 firefighters responded to the blaze and had the fire contained 11 minutes after arriving.

The cause is under investigation. The fire displaced 8 people, 5 of who are under the age of 11.
