TUCSON, Ariz. — A candlelight vigil was held Friday night for Jazelle Armenta, who was killed in a car crash on the southwest side of Tucson this week.

Jazelle was a cheerleader for the Tucson Redskins youth football team. The 7-year-old was on her way to practice Wednesday night before the crash.

Hundreds of people gathered for a vigil at Manzanita Park, where the team practices, to remember the little girl.

Jazelle's grandmother and uncle, Martha and Estevan Ortiz, say she was a spunky, spirited little girl. And it's easy to see in pictures.

"In those seven years she was here, she made a big difference on everybody, she did. People who don't know her, can see how sincere and sweet she was," they said.

The Ortiz's say Jazelle was outgoing and always smiling. She loved the camera -- taking selfies, and vlogging.

She was fearless and selfless. Two words, Jazelle's family says are unusual for a 7-year-old, but that's what Jazelle was.

"She wanted to make everyone's day better. That's all it ever was with her -- wanted to make everyone's day better. Her smile made my day better. Everyday," Jazelle's grandmother and uncle said.

The Redskins are playing at Pueblo High School on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 8 a.m. There will be a moment of silence held for Jazelle, and a balloon release during half time.

The Armenta family is raising money through GoFundMe for a funeral that is scheduled for next week.
